"Russia still open for cooperation in the Arctic, explorer says" — Trude Pettersen — Barents Observer — January 22, 2015
Artur Chilingarov, who until recently was President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy to the Arctic said in a recent speech at the Arctic Frontiers conference in Tromsø that cooperation with other Arctic states is an important part of Russia’s Arctic strategy.
[ More ]Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom is working on a roadmap exploring where to build final repositories for nuclear waste. Ten pre-selected locations in Northwest-Russia are now under consideration, including permafrost sites on Novaya Zemlya and Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Norway wants to have a say before any decisions are taken.
